The Central Route is the most popular route of the Portuguese Camino from Porto. The Camino starts at Se Cathedral in the historical center of Porto and finishes in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. It’s an inland route that takes pilgrims through several historical towns and combines forest and rural scenery.

Tui is a Spanish town on the Central Route of the Portuguese Camino, one of the most popular Camino de Santiago routes. It’s situated 117 km/72,7 mi from Santiago de Compostela. Though the Portuguese Camino starts in Lisbon many people start walking it in Porto or Tui. Tui is a popular starting point for walking the last 100 km to Santiago de Compostela.

From Pontevedra, pilgrims can also choose to connect with the Spiritual Variant (Variante Espiritual) — a beautiful inland detour through historic villages and lush Galician landscapes, ending with the traditional boat journey that follows the route of Saint James’ remains, adding both a spiritual and unforgettable touch to the coastal Camino.
