Good evening, we're going to walk the Portuguese camino from Porto in May 2026. We were going to walk to Vila do Conde on Day 1 via the coast but wanted to cross over to the central route from there on Day 2. Is that possible? Also, what is best site to use to book hostels, hotels etc....? Thanks for your help (from Canada)

Hello Sandy. Thank you for the comment. Do you want to walk out of Porto following the Coastal Route or the Litoral Way? The Litoral Way is the one that goes along the Douro River through the city and then continues along the coast to Vila do Conde. The Coastal Route goes inland past some industrial areas, airport, etc. It's probably the worst route out of Porto. You can find more information on the 3 routes from Porto in this post https://stingynomads.com/three-routes-porto-portuguese-camino/. The first stage on the Litoral Way from Porto to Vila do Conde is quite long 33 km. I don't know if you want to walk it in one day or skip a part of it e.g. start in Matosinhos? We have detailed posts on every route of the Portuguese Camino from Porto where you can find downloadable PDFs with walking stages and places to stay. Here is the post for the Litoral Way https://stingynomads.com/litoral-way-portuguese-camino/#Litoral_Way_stages_and_places_to_stay_PDFs and for the Central Route https://stingynomads.com/central-route-portuguese-camino/#Portuguese_Camino_Central_Route_PDFs. Most of the places can be booked online, you just click a link provided in the PDF and book whatever you like. It's possible to cross from Vila do Conde to the Central Route you can find more information on the trail here https://stingynomads.com/vila-do-conde-to-rates-routes/.
